A growing number of overdose deaths in Detroit have been attributed to heroin and cocaine contaminated with fentanyl. On the surface, the deaths appear consistent with the escalating opioid crisis spreading across the United States.
Epsilon intelligence indicates otherwise.
The concentration of fentanyl, distribution patterns, and connections between seemingly unrelated incidents suggest the contamination may not be random. Someone is deliberately altering the narcotics entering the streets, and the operation appears larger and considerably more organized than local distribution networks would suggest.
Mark Boyle has been activated to determine who is responsible, trace the supply chain, and establish the objective behind the operation.
